On Friday, March 1st, from 6:30 to 9 p.m., Personify is pleased to present "Through Lines" by artists Heather Youngblood and Amy Friend as part of the First Friday Art Walk. Both artists will be on hand to speak with visitors about their work which will remain on display through Monday, March 25th.
"Through Lines" is a collection of drawings by artists Heather Youngblood and Amy Friend. Through pencil, ink, and paint, Youngblood and Friend first connected online. Inspired by one another's drawings, "Through Lines" brings together their work in physical form.
Lines are all around us. They are every edge, on every road, in every room.
Through Lines, we construct our space...
Through Lines, we create our stories...
Through Lines, we connect ourselves to the world.
Raleigh based artist and illustrator, Heather Youngblood, has been developing her style of botanical illustration since 2016. Utilizing pen and ink as her primary medium, she is often inspired by the rich history, symbolism, and folklore of flowers and plants. Through intentional and precise linework, she reflects her personal needs for control and balance in her everyday life.
Amy Friend began drawing at an early age, and it led her to travel around the country and abroad. Life experiences and challenges drive creativity, questions and self-exploration. Her work, rooted in foundations and process, delves into the complexities of life, the world around her and the way the two fit together. Through drawing, painting and collage, she creates a context for this exploration.
